Killowen Distillery bottles indies for club, shop and pub

Three ex-Pinot Noir cask bottlings are going to South Africa, Ireland and Northern Ireland

Killowen Distillery are delighted to announce three ex-Pinot Noir indie bottlings. These integrity bottlings follow the same Killowen discipline as always: cask strength, some barrier filtration, hand bottled, hand labelled, hand numbered, full transparency and big on flavour.

Three lucky stockists have requested these casks for two years now: Viking Kallare in South Africa, Carryout Killarney & Molly McCabe’s Warrenpoint. Who are these lucky owners, you ask?

Killowen Viking Kallare indie bottling

The first club cask: Viking Kallare (Cellar) Whisky Club, South Africa
158 bottles
Recouped Pinot Noir firkin, 70 litres
11yo blended whiskey: 70% Cooley grain 5% Cooley Malt 25% Bush Oloroso

This legendary club has been run by Lars and Mark Forssman and their sons, all of whom often visit distilleries in Ireland, for over 10 years. Both men have Scandinavian roots – hence the name of the club. These guys have over 600 open bottles with a growing Irish selection (thankfully it is hidden under ground in the middle of a forest). Killowen is delighted to announce this club bottling as its first indie cask.

The first retailer cask: Carryout Killarney, Co Kerry
152 bottles
Recouped Pinot Noir firkin, 70 litres
11yo blended whiskey: 66.5% Cooley Grain, 3.5% Cooley Malt 30% Bush Oloroso

We all know Killarney is the king of carryouts! When John is not having the craic with punters, he is tirelessly chasing quality whiskey stocks and supplying Irish Whiskey fans worldwide with the same. It’s no surprise that Carryout Killarney was Munster Off Licence of the year 2021/2022 and that this Killowen bottling will be their fifth single-cask release.

Killowen Molly McCabe's indie bottling

The first pub cask: Molly McCabe’s, Warrenpoint, Co Down
139 bottles
Recouped Pinot Noir firkin, 70 litres
6yo Cooley single malt

Molly’s is the best pint house in this part of the country, filled with characters and craic every day of the week. This local gem is run by none other than ex-Killowen distiller and charmer Pearse Carr. Molly’s is one of the few pubs, perhaps even the only one, that stocks every Killowen release behind the bar – amongst many other excellent whiskeys. Founded in 1823, Molly’s will be 200 years old next year (which suits Pearse, who is 34 going on 200). This single malt is a bar exclusive, so call in to see what it and real pints of stout taste like.
