Glencadam new range of cask finishes

Glencadam Distillery announces new range of specially curated cask finishes

Historic East Highland distillery Glencadam has released a series of innovative non-age statement cask finishes to its portfolio.

The range features five unique finishes which put a spin on the core Glencadam characteristics.

Created in small batches by Master Distiller Robert Fleming, the single malt carefully selected for this collection has been matured in exceptional American oak ex-bourbon casks from the historic Glencadam dunnage warehouses - true to the signature distillery style. Each expression has then been finished in experimental casks, creating five distinctive taste profiles:

  • Glencadam Reserva PX – Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish

  • Glencadam Reserva de Porto Branco – White Port Cask Finish

  • Glencadam Reserva de Porto Tawny – Tawny Port Cask Finish

  • Glencadam Reservé de Bordeaux – Merlot Wine Cask Finish

  • Glencadam Reservé de Burgundy – Pinot Noir Wine Cask Finish

The Cask Finishes collection follows the success of Glencadam’s Reserva Andalucía Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish, which was recently awarded a string of impressive accolades, winning a Gold Outstanding award at IWSC by scoring an impressive 98/100 in both 2022 and 2023, as well as picking up a Gold medal at the 2023 International Spirits Challenge, also for the second consecutive year.

Established in 1825 in the ancient city and Royal Burgh of Brechin, Glencadam is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries. A distillery steeped in history, heritage and tradition, its single malt Scotch whisky is handcrafted in a process that’s remained unchanged for almost 200 years.

The first of the creative cask finishes to launch for UK consumers are the Glencadam Reserva PX, Glencadam Reservé de Burgundy and Glencadam Reserva de Porto Branco, with Glencadam Reserva de Porto Branco only available to UK consumers via the distillery’s online shop. All three are now available to purchase from Glencadam’s e-commerce site for £47 per 70cl bottle: shop.angusdundee.co.uk. Select finishes will also be available from independent and specialist retailers across the UK.

The Glencadam Reserva de Porto Tawny and Glencadam Reservé de Bordeaux expressions are currently only available in select European markets but are set to launch in the UK this autumn.

Glencadam Distillery

Established in 1825, Glencadam Distillery is steeped in history, heritage and tradition, handcrafting single malt Scotch whisky in a process that’s remained unchanged for almost 200 years. In 2021, Glencadam Distillery re-installed a working internal waterwheel, modelled on the original which was used to power the distillery back in in 1825.

One of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, Glencadam was mothballed for several years before it was purchased by Angus Dundee Distillers in 2003.

Today, Glencadam’s multi-award-winning range includes American Oak Reserve, Reserva Andalucía, the 10-Year-Old, 13-Year-Old, 15-Year-Old and 25-Year-Old expressions, as well as a series of special cask finishes.
