Tobermory Distillery Announces Two Limited Edition Whiskies

Tobermory Distillery’s latest Cask Finish series

Tobermory Distillery Announces Two Limited Edition Whiskies.

Tobermory Distillery has revealed the latest release in its coveted Hebridean Series as well as a limited edition Ledaig expression created in partnership with award-winning wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan and respected island charity the Mull and Iona Community Trust.

Ledaig Triple Wood is the marriage of three casks, with each cask symbolising the three partners who have been inspired to come together to conserve and protect the island’s precious ecosystem. While Tobermory 26 year old Oloroso Cask Finish heralds the much anticipated penultimate instalment of the Hebridean Series.

Announcing the Mull and Iona Community Trust as Tobermory Distillery’s official charity partner, a donation from the production of Ledaig Triple Wood will be made to the organisation, initially giving back to the island by supporting the long-term conservation and restoration of the Ardura Forest, one of the UK’s most ambitious rewilding projects.

Part of a 20 year project, the Mull and Iona Community Trust is focused on regenerating, protecting and enhancing Ardura’s Atlantic rainforest biodiversity to face the threats of climate change. Conserving globally rare fungi, plant and lichen species, the work will help some of the UK’s most vulnerable birds and animals to survive while creating employment opportunities.

The Tobermory Hebridean Series

The Tobermory Hebridean Series, Expression 4, Olorosso Cask Finish 26 year old

The Tobermory Hebridean Series, launched in 2021, is a collection of 5 limited edition releases. The liquid is from the coveted 2008 release of ‘Tobermory 15 Year Old’, which has been left in cask to mature for a further 11 years. Now, on the 4th of five, each bottle, past and present, celebrates and is inspired by unique influences from their distillery home on the Isle of Mull.

This year, the inspiration for the 26 year old has been taken from the white-tailed eagles of Mull, which were once considered extinct in Britain. Mull now boasts the largest nesting population of white-tailed eagles, thanks to a successful conservation programme to reintroduce the birds, which can have a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres. Finished in Oloroso Casks and adorned with a photo taken by Gordon of a white-tailed eagle, Tobermory 26 year old is limited to 4,560 bottles and is an exquisite sherried malt with a perfect balance of spice and sweet.

Available worldwide, Tobermory Hebridean Series 26YO Oloroso Cask Finish has an ABV of 49.12%, with bottles priced at £370 and available to purchase at Berry Bros exclusively from February 28 and then from tobermorydistillery.com from March 13.

Ledaig Triple Wood

The Ledaig Triple Wood

Ledaig Triple Wood is the marriage of three casks, with each cask symbolising the three partners who have been inspired to come together to conserve and protect the island’s precious ecosystem. A sumptuous dram made up of three classic Ledaig single malts, each carefully matured in separate casks – one Wine, another Bourbon and a third Port, Ledaig Triple Wood is expertly married together by Tobermory’s Master Blender, Julieann Fernandez.

Distinctively smoky, Triple Wood is swirling with notes of apple, vanilla, smoky oak and toffee, and a lingering whisper of maple syrup, while Tobermory 26 year old is entwined with salted toffee and floral honey, finishing with caramelised walnuts and a subtle salty undercurrent.
