Lochlea launches Harvest Edition (Third Crop) for 6th birthday

The 2024 Lochlea Harvest Crop 3rd Ed.

Lochlea Distillery celebrates its sixth birthday with the launch of Harvest Edition (Third Crop).

This release continues the Third Crop of its award-winning Seasonal range of whiskies. The multi-award-winning grain-to-cask distillery celebrates the farming calendar with four Seasonal releases during the year: Sowing, Harvest, Fallow and Ploughing. The whiskies in the First Crop were released from early-2022, followed by the Second Crop from early 2023. The Third and final Crop, which began with Sowing Edition in March 2024, will conclude in early 2025.

The latest and final release of Harvest has been double matured in refill Bourbon barrels and Port hogsheads, alongside a single Oloroso sherry butt. All casks have been hand-selected by the Lochlea Production Team, and with the spirit now another year older, this offers a different take on the sweet, summery flavour profile associated with the Harvest trilogy.

Late Summer is a very busy time on Lochlea Farm, as 222 acres of Laureate barley is harvested, ready to be malted. The barley will then be stored and used throughout the year to produce Lochlea Single Malt Scotch whisky.

On Harvest Edition (Third Crop), Commercial Director David Ferguson says:

Harvest Edition 3rd Crop marks the conclusion of this limited-edition trilogy. It’s always great to see our customers who tried previous batches sending us their feedback on the latest one, and I’m personally excited to line up the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Crops to taste the evolution of our whisky in Port casks since 2022. Another fascinating moment in time, captured in a bottle and never to be repeated. Harvest season is extremely busy here on the farm, and I’m sure the team will enjoy a dram once our 2024 barley crop is safely in the grain shed!”

Lochlea Harvest Edition (Third Crop) will be available from 29th August, whilst stocks last, RRP: £51.50. And for those looking to enjoy other whiskies within the trilogy, very limited bottles of First and Second Crop whiskies can be sought out via Lochlea’s retail partners here.

In addition to the seasonal limited-edition releases, Lochlea has a core whisky expression available all year round - Our Barley. This unpeated single malt has been matured in a combination of three different casks: first fill ex-Bourbon, Oloroso sherry casks and STR barriques, all of which add depths of flavour to the spirit. Launched in July 2022, Our Barley has received much acclaim as a superb example of unique fruit and cereal forward whisky, made entirely from the distillery’s own home-grown barley.

ABOUT Lochlea Distillery:

Lochlea was originally a 222-acre livestock farm before being purchased by Neil and Jen McGeoch in 2006. After much consideration of the future of the farm and a successful trial to grow its own barley in 2015, the couple transformed the land and existing farm buildings into a fully operational distillery in 2017 and started distilling the following year. The farming side has remained a unique part of Lochlea, with the move into barley production – paving the way for Lochlea to be one of the very few fully grain-to-cask distilleries in Scotland. It also has a rich Scottish heritage with strong links to Robbie Burns, with the bard having worked and lived on the farm a several years.
