LAGG Arrives in U.S.

LAGG’s Corriecravie edition single malt scotch whisky

Heavily Peated Core Range from Isle of Arran Distillers’ Second Distillery Arrives in U.S. – Reflecting Rich History & Modern Innovation.

Hotaling & Co., a leading artisanal spirits importer, and Isle of Arran Distillers are excited to announce the U.S. arrival of the highly anticipated core range of expressions from LAGG Distillery, a new heavily peated distillery from Isle of Arran Distillers, which brought legal distillation back to the picturesque island located off Scotland’s western shoreline. The brand-new core range of LAGG Single Malt Scotch Whiskies – the Kilmory (46% ABV; 700ml; $74.99 SRP) and Corriecravie editions (55% ABV; 700ml; $99.99 SRP) – arrive on shelves this month nationwide.

Isle of Arran Distillers opened its first distillery, Lochranza, in the foothills of the northern village of Lochranza in 1995, where it broke with tradition by producing primarily unpeated whiskies instead of the region’s typically peated expressions. In 2019, the Distillers opened LAGG Distillery on the southern tip of the Isle, which was the original whisky heartland of the island, and with it made a return to more traditional and heavily peated whisky. LAGG is named after the last legally founded distillery on Arran, which closed in 1837.

The world of whisky is filled with tradition and history, but there's always room for innovation and fresh perspectives. And that's exactly what LAGG Distillery is bringing to the table with this brand-new core range of Single Malts.

At the heart of the Kilmory Edition is LAGG Distillery's commitment to peated single malts that hark back to the illicit stills of Arran's past. Matured entirely in first-fill bourbon barrels, this bottling boasts a vibrant and fresh profile that is sure to leave a lasting impression on taste buds. Bottled at 46% ABV, with no added coloring or chill filtration, the Kilmory Edition embodies the earthy smokiness and vanilla notes that make LAGG Single Malts distinctive.

The extremely limited Corriecravie Edition offers a unique twist on the LAGG Distillery spirit. After initially maturing in bourbon barrels, this expression is finished for around six months in Oloroso sherry hogsheads sourced directly from producer Miguel Martin in Jerez. It is then bottled at 55% ABV, once again without chill filtration and with no added coloring. The result is a whisky that showcases a sweeter smoke and rich fruit notes, perfectly balancing the peat and spice that have become synonymous with LAGG Single Malts.

The Isle of Arran is often described as “Scotland in Miniature” because the unique climate and geography of the island has all the scenery of Scotland including mountains, lowlands, glens, lochs and royal castles. Both distilleries perfectly showcase the complexity of whisky produced in the north and south of the island – and are also rooted in the history and traditions of the Isle of Arran.
